and out of our campsite by 8:45 a.m., heading north, bound for northern Montana or southern Alberta, depending on how the day goes.
The scenery as we started out on Highway 89 north of Gardiner, MT was beautiful, and it continued to be that way most of the day.
We had a lunch break in White Sulphur Springs, in the parking lot of what seemed to be "the" grocery store in town. We really enjoyed all the small town grocery stores we shopped in, and their prices were surprisingly low usually too. Lucas is enjoying a cut up turkey sandwich here.
We really enjoyed driving up Highway 89 rather than taking the I-15 (Interstate). So much less traffic, much more beautiful scenery, and less worry about the fact that we intentionally only go the speed limit (if that) because we are towing a trailer.
I drove through a high elevation route in the Lewis and Clark National Forest that rose to over 7200 feet, past a ski area named Showdown. You could still see snow on both sides of the highway.
Starbucks break in Great Falls, MT. Lattes for us, baby food for Lucas, and a chance for him to have fun smiling at other friendly customers.
Border crossing at Coutts, AB. They gave us no hassle, as we only brought back a minimum of souvenirs, and a measly 13 bottles of beer. We were fools and carried one bottle of wine from home and back so we couldn't get more beer! :(
Lucas was oddly perky as we rolled into Alberta, even though we were getting tired ourselves after a fairly long day of driving. Maybe it's because he got a bottle and a snack, and we didn't!
Hello Alberta! I am kind of proud of this sunny photo taken out of the side window of the backseat of the Jeep on my iPhone. It's always so nice to come back to Canada, it just feels like home already.
We made it to Lethbridge in time to have dinner at Boston Pizza. Lucas really enjoyed his cut up pieces of Hawaiian pizza! He also loved people watching. We are so thankul he is so easy to take to restaurants. A baby at a neighboring table shrieked at the top of her lungs while we were all busy eating.
Our campsite tonight is back in the Walmart parking lot that we stayed in when we started our this trip!
Edited at bedtime to add in a screenshot of the current temperature. It's 14 degrees warmer than the first night we stayed here in Lethbridge, almost 4 weeks ago!
