Day 27: May 2, 2015 - Lethbridge, AB to Edmonton, AB (Home!)

Lucas had us up good and early at 5:40 a.m. today.

We started the day with some quick and easy McDonald's for breakfast - Rob and Lucas shared a "Big Breakfast." Lucas also had a side of baby oatmeal. :)

It was a chilly and rainy morning as we hit the highway just before 8:00 a.m.

We again took the road less traveled, and drove north on Highway 23.

So little traffic, such beautiful scenery. Sure, it was rainy and cloudy, but if you look carefully you can see a rainbow!

Then the skies cleared, and we passed a big, long train.

Here's another typical Alberta scene, a train at the grain elevator, just south of Vulcan, Alberta.

Yes, I did say Vulcan!

We made a quick stop at the Starship Enterprise in Vulcan, of course.

I love it when the farmers make beautiful straight lines in their golden fields!

Some traditional grain elevators in Mosleigh, Alberta.

Soon we will be in Calgary and on boring old Highway 2...

...wait, we don't have to lose time being "in" Calgary! Can you say Stoney Trail 201 Bypass? :)

Today's drive was insanely windy, and we got our worst mileage of the trip in our own province. (PS: We are coming home to a provincial election next week, which looks like it's going to bring change.)

My backseat buddy, who's been such a patient and amazing little traveler!

We opted for a sit-down lunch for a nice break in Red Deer, at "ABC Country." It was surprisingly delicious! Lucas got to have some French fries.

After over 6,000 kilometers of driving, we are home in Edmonton, Alberta!

The trailer is back on our driveway...gosh, our house feels positively huge compared to our 15.4 foot trailer!

And Lucas is very, very happy to be in his own, big playspace, surrounded by toys he hasn't seen in four weeks.

(Later this weekend I'm planning to add a couple more blog entries, one about things we have learned while traveling with a baby, one about great baby products that helped us during the trip, and one about our trip favourites overall. I also look forward to using my laptop to do a bit of proofreading and revising!)
