Day 9 - Tuesday, April 14, 2015 - Kodachrome State Park, UT

On our last morning in Springdale & Zion, we woke up to sunny, warm weather again. After we packed up our campsite, we took Lucas to the playground for a few minutes. He enjoyed the motorcycle!

We stopped for lunch on the way out of Springdale at MeMe's CafĂ©, and it was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend stopping here for a bite to eat or a boxed lunch to take on the trail. Fresh, flavorful food and friendly staff.

On our way out of Zion National Park, we took the Scenic Highway 12, and this meant that we got to go through a few fun tunnels!

Here's an overview of Scenic Highway (Byway?) 12, that we are travelling east on for the next several days:

The next parkland we entered on our way was the Dixie National Forest and Red Canyon, though we were only passing through today.

We arrived at our destination in the late afternoon, Kodachrome State Park, where we have a campsite reserved for three nights.  We were advised by a few people that this would be a much quieter and nicer place to stay than right in Bryce Canyon, and this was definitely true!

At our campsite in Kodachrome, we introduced Lucas to the Utah Juniper tree, and he loved touching it! He has since visited several more of this same tree, and he gives a little giggle each time! We suspect that the texture of it tickles his hands. :)

Our campsite in Kodachrome...

There was no wifi in this pleasantly remote campground, so no screen shots of temperatures! However, it was pretty chilly, around -2 C overnight. Thank goodness for our furnace in the trailer!
